Dr Kamales Kumar Saha has achieved success in the field of cardiac surgery beyond his years. His expertise lies in Off Pump beating heart CABG (OPCAB) which he does without blood transfusion and using Total arterial grafts. He has pioneered a new Aortic No touch technique which leads to almost zero incidence of stroke-the most dreaded complication of CABG. He has been invited to share his experience in International forums.
He has been working as an independent Senior Consultant in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery since 2002 after returning from the Mayo Clinic, USA. He has worked as a Senior Consultant in Apollo Hospital and Asian Heart Institute.
He has performed more than 4500 surgeries on patients aged from 2 years to 84 years. His versatility and surgical skills have allowed him to operate on patients with congenital heart disease as well.
He is an International Member of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons and The Society of Thoracic Surgeons USA apart from having membership of Indian Associations like IACTS and IMA.

- Dr Kamales Kumar Saha completed his MBBS, MS General Surgery and DNB General Surgery from Calcutta. He received Gold Medals in Surgery and Pharmacology, Wilson Silver Medal in Operative Surgery, Sir Frank Conner Silver Medal in Surgical Anatomy, Shanks Silver Medal in Clinical Pathology, Dr. Nanilal Pan Silver Medal in Anatomy, B. C. Basak Silver Medal in Anatomy for his outstanding academic performance at the university level.
- He also received following prizes -Duke of Edinburgh Prize in Surgery, Govt. Prize in Clinical Surgery, Govt. Prize in Clinical Medicine.He then joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi for MCh in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery.
- He worked as a Service Registrar at Chirstchurch Public Hospital, New Zealand. He went on to do an advanced fellowship in the department of Cardiac Surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA, one of the best medical schools in US.

TRAINING IN CARDIOTHORACIC SURGERY - Summary
After completing MS in General Surgery he opted for further studies in Cardiac surgery. He joined the premiere All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi better known as AIIMS in 1992. Here he received training under Dr. P. Venugopal, one of the best cardiac surgeons and a teacher par excellence. During the extensive training at AIIMS he gained experience in the full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgery including CABG, Valve replacement and valve repair surgery, correction of congenital cardiac anomalies. He has the distinction of being the only senior resident to have the honor of assisting Dr. P. Venugopal in performing the first Cardiac Transplantation of India on 3rd August 1994.
After getting the MCh degree in 1995,he joined Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, where his skills were further honed under the expert guidance of Dr Bhabananda Das. He gained valuable experience in Cardiac Surgery especially beating heart CABG and other adult cardiac surgery at this foremost corporate hospital.
During these 5 years, he performed more than 300 operations under supervision and assisted more than 1500 operations.
